We're looking for a talented visual and motion designer to join our growing team.  This is a  full-time position based in our office in Aventura, Florida.  As a Visual Designer, you will be working in an energetic, dynamic, and creative environment to design delightful, beautiful, and accessible experiences that inspire, engage, and excite educators and students across our web and mobile offerings.
 
What you’ll be doing:
The job of a Visual Designer is to support the product and UX organizations by creating visually engaging, innovative and functional mobile and web experiences for thousands of educators, students, and school and district administrators around the country. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with teams consisting of UX designers, developers, and product managers throughout the design process. You will work with our team to bring our vision and concepts to life through visually engaging and delightful experiences that communicate the brand and tone consistently throughout our family of web and mobile products.


Your responsibilities will include areas such as typography, iconography, color, space and texture. Additional responsibilities are:
  • Creating graphic design elements in Adobe products and Sketch
  • Take graphic designs to a new level with visual effects and animation
  • Create a look consistent with all of Nearpod products while pleasing our users
  • Collaborating with UX and product team members to create wireframes and prototypes using tools like Sketch and Invision
  • Defining, socializing, and maintaining a visual and motion design languages within the larger design language system
  • Collaborating with and inspiring other designers on the team, and keeping up with the visual and motion design industry evolution including best practices, new trends and tools
  • Working across teams to understand user needs, business, and feature requirements
 
The perfect candidate:
  • A relevant portfolio of work with examples of visually stunning and engaging designs applied across a multi-platform ecosystem.
  • Understanding the basic principles of animation
  • Ability to use motion to a narrative effect and understanding the future of interactive motion.
  • Has a strong design sensibility and ability to empathize with our users (educators and students).
  • A minimum of 3 years visual and motion design experience across platforms (e.g. web, mobile, enterprise platform design)
  • LOVES mobile but has also a keen eye for web.
  • Has worked on apps for extreme users (e.g. kids) and/or users with different skill levels or compromised conditions.
  • Has great communication skills: you should be able to articulate your design decisions and the problems you're solving
  • Has incredible precision, attention to detail, and organization skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Experience in designing for educational technology products and knowledge of pedagogy is a plus but not required.
