Position: Senior Accounting Analyst
 
Position Overview:
Nearpod is seeking a talented Senior Accounting Analyst. The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate financial statement reporting by timely review of the financial statements and recording adjustments as required. This position reports to the Controller and is based in our Miami/FLL office.
 
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation of financial reports and various supporting schedules, including guiding other accounting team members.
  • Post and maintain various accounting ledgers and journals
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
  • Assist in the completion of quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Perform reconciliation work for cash accounts, prepaid assets, property and equipment assets, as well as other balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Develop and maintain accounting schedules and investigate discrepancies in financial statement reporting
  • Record journal entries and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Review, analyze and prepare schedules and journal entries for the Company’s royalty programs, including providing other team members guidance as required.
  • Monitor incoming prepaid expenses on a monthly basis and record journals to properly recognize expenses in accordance with US GAAP and the company’s policies
  • Track and explain monthly variances between actual financial results and budgets
  • Support external audit requirements including preparing schedules and holding discussions with the auditors to ensure proper understanding
  • Provide guidance to other accounting team members where required to ensure proper financial statement reporting
 
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
  • Five years of experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is key for this role
  • Must be organized and able to self-manage tasks simultaneously
  • Prepares ad hoc analysis or special reporting in response to inquiries from management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team including collaborating with all team members in the organization.
