Nearpod is an award-winning education technology company focused on developing digital learning tools, virtual reality and interactive content across mobile devices that provides teachers an easy and efficient way to leverage technology in the classroom by creating learning experiences that engage and inspire students.
Since its launch in 2012 Nearpod has become a leader (& teacher favorite) in teaching and learning with technology. Nearpod currently reaches ~5M students monthly. In 2016 it was named one of Inc. 500’s fastest growing private companies and was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune and local news channels across the country.
Nearpod has offices in Miami, Florida and San Francisco, California and is backed by notable investors like Insight Venture Partners, Reach Capital, Storm Ventures, the Stanford StartX Fund, the Knight Enterprise Fund, Arsenal Ventures, as well as Marc Benioff (the CEO of Salesforce) and Scott Cook (founder and Chairman of Intuit) and his wife, Signe Ostby.
The Vice President of Content Strategy has grown out of the need to build on Nearpod's popular digital lessons that are tailor-made for the new classroom modalities, including mobile devices and future iterations of those devices. Nearpod’s digital content is delighting and engaging students and teachers alike. Our VP will build on this popularity and continue on the path of innovation with a goal to broaden and deepen the teaching and learning experience. H/she will be working both from an inside/out, outside/in perspective to create foundational and future strategies and then execute to scale the business.
H/she will partner with the CEO to develop a short and long term content strategy and work closely with our Sales, Marketing and Customer Success teams to deploy Nearpod digital content into US schools and school districts. Included in this, is responsibility for defining content production publishing plans, sourcing content partners, helping secure (with Sales) district contracts and positioning Nearpod as an incoming leader in the digital content space for the K-12 education market.
The ideal candidate has had leadership positions in sales and/or marketing and has extensive experience in the K-12 educational content market with a strategic understanding of the major trends affecting the industry (growth of digital products, regulatory environment – both local and federal, major funding sources, national and state curriculum standards, etc.). The ideal candidate also has been directly involved in leading or supporting content sales efforts to US school districts and a network of personal connections with both publishers and districts. Finally, a solid vision of how digital tools are affecting and will affect the content business for publishers is a must.
