Office-based role in Aventura, FL 

Position Overview:
By 2020, 1 in 5 students in America will be an English Learners (ELs). At Nearpod, we look to redefine EL instruction and teacher professional learning by first recognizing this remarkable diversity of cultures and languages that ELs bring to our community and schools. From new research on equity-based frameworks to policies that draw greater focus to teacher collaboration, these trends create exciting new opportunities for technologies that build capacity for all teachers to best serve their ELs. To help us achieve our goals, we are looking for a Content Development Specialist to create impactful, engaging instructional and PD content for ELs and teachers using our interactive Nearpod platform. This position will be based in our Miami office. This individual will work directly with the Director of Nearpod EL, EL Product Manager, and Director of Content. This individual will also collaborate with our team of content producers and designers.

The ideal candidate is looking to apply her/his EL teaching experience in the classroom to create realistic, scalable impacts on teachers and ELs across the nation. This person must be knowledgeable in differentiating instructional content to English Language Development standards such as WIDA. This individual must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has a proven track-record of managing multiple projects and coordinating with diverse teams.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the EL and Content teams to define and execute digital content production projects 
  • Create engaging content for a K-12 audience that maximizes Nearpod’s interactive features to engage EL students and facilitate instruction for Teachers
  • Correlate lessons to English Language Development standards, WIDA, and State Standards
  • Research, evaluate, and initiate new content partnerships
  • Deliver projects on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching English Language Learners in K-12 required
  • Strong familiarity with WIDA is a plus
  • Prior teaching experience with newcomers and Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with education or publishing organizations, project management, and/or operational experience at a fast paced, high growth organization preferred
  • A deep understanding of the English Language Learning Environment and what teachers and students need for supplemental instruction
  • A passion for bringing technology into the classroom as well as knowledge about education technology and curriculum trends in the EL world
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Interest in developing and refining the processes for content creation, review and publishing
  • Incredible precision, attention to detail, and organization skills

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
